We Planned and Ran an "XR × Ideathon Workshop" at Yasuda Women's University

On 8/27 (Wed), we held an ideathon-style workshop using XR (cross reality) at the Faculty of Science and Engineering of Yasuda Women's University in Hiroshima Prefecture.
It was attended by 28 students from the Faculty of Science and Engineering, who gathered even though it was summer vacation.
It was a lively session on the university's green campus in northwestern Hiroshima City.

Workshop theme: "Creating a spark for free creativity"

The challenge this time was "to create a spark that lets students create freely."
To address it, we introduced an ideathon, where participants share ideas and nurture new ways of thinking.

An ideathon is an event where diverse members exchange opinions to generate completely new ideas and solutions. Making use of this format, the goal of this ideathon was not to finish a perfect plan, but to expand and refine ideas together with teammates.

Case studies and a METATORE experience

To open the session, Ayumu Mitani, President and CEO of World Area Networks Co., Ltd., introduced the latest trends in XR and the process of solving problems with technology, along with real examples.

The students also tried "METATORE," the construction machinery simulator WAN is developing.
They tried both the VR version and the display version in a relaxed atmosphere, and we received a great deal of positive feedback from the students.

An ideathon where the students' initiative amazed us

Then it was time for the ideathon itself.
During the team presentations, the students actively shared their opinions, and we were amazed by how motivated they were.

Clarifying an image of "what would be great if we could do it."

Thinking about how to apply the technologies they are learning to make that image a reality.

It was very impressive to see them take on this process while enjoying it.
We are delighted that the students enjoyed the workshop, and at the same time,
it was a valuable opportunity for us to realize anew the importance of curiosity and the importance of taking action toward making ideas real.

Fueled by that energy, we will continue to accelerate our business.

WAN's initiatives

WAN values collaboration with universities and students, and plans and runs lectures and workshops.
We also hold events regularly to offer new services and places for learning.

We will continue to develop new services together with universities and students.
